The main INFRAWEBS (Intelligent Framework for Generating Open (Adaptable) Development Platforms for Web - Service EnabledApplications Using Semantic Web Technologies, Distributed Decisions Support Units and Multi - Agent – Systems) project focus and objective is the development of an application-oriented software toolset for creating, maintaining and executing WSMO-based Semantic Web Services (SWS) within their whole life cycle.
The main aim of the LOGOS (Knowledge-on-Demand for Ubiquitous Learning) project is to create a platform for ubiquitous learning that combines the use of courseware objects from the LOGOS authoring studio with cross-media delivery through digital video broadcasting (DVB), mobile and IP-based communication channels.
LUISA (Learning Content Management System Using Innovative Semantic Web Services Architecture) addresses the development of a reference semantic architecture for the major challenges in the search, interchange and delivery of learning objects in a service-oriented context. This entails the technical description of the solution in terms of current SWS technology, and also the provision of the ontologies, facilities and components required to extend and enhance existing learning technology systems with the advanced capabilities provided by computational semantics.
Kaleidoscope is the European research network shaping the scientific evolution of technology enhanced learning. It integrates the leading research teams in the field, who work collaboratively across educational, computer and social sciences to transform the quality and reach of the learning experience. Kaleidoscope fosters innovation and creativity through the development of new technologies, methodologies and concepts, defining the challenges and solutions for interdisciplinary research.

Service Oriented Architectures for All (SOA4All) is a Large-Scale Integrating Project funded by the European Seventh Framework Programme, under the Service and Software Architectures, Infrastructures and Engineering research area. SOA4All will help to realize a world where billions of parties are exposing and consuming services via advanced Web technology: the main objective of the project is to provide a comprehensive framework and infrastructure that integrates complementary and evolutionary technical advances (i.e., SOA, context management, Web principles, Web 2.0 and Semantic Web) into a coherent and domain-independent service delivery platform.

It is the mission of the WSMO working group to, through alignment between key European research projects in the Semantic Web Service area, further the development of Semantic Web Services and works toward further standardization in the area of Semantic Web Service languages and to work toward a common architecture and platform for Semantic Web Services.

WSMO web site includes the WSML working group, which aims at developing a language called Web Service Modeling Language (WSML) that formalizes the Web Service Modeling Ontology (WSMO).
The mission of the Conceptual Models for Services Working Group (CMS WG) is to continue the efforts of the WSMO working group in two ways. Firstly, the group will maintain WSMO adding updates as appropriate to fulfil requests from Semantic Web Service researchers and practitioners. Secondly, building on WSMO we will create a number of new generic ontologies.

The working group integrates the work from various past and present projects mainly funded from the EU FP6 and FP7 R&D programs. The core projects of the CMS WG are SOA4ALL and SUPER.
The Semantic Web Services arm of the DAML program is developing an OWL-based Web Service Ontology, OWL-S (formerly DAML-S), as well as supporting tools and agent technology to enable automation of services on the Semantic Web.

OWL-S supplies Web service providers with a core set of markup language constructs for describing the properties and capabilities of their Web services in unambiguous, computer-intepretable form. OWL-S markup of Web services will facilitate the automation of Web service tasks including automated Web service discovery, execution, interoperation, composition and execution monitoring. Following the layered approach to markup language development, the current version of OWL-S builds on top of OWL.

The IMS Global Learning Consortium creates standards for the development and adoption of technologies that enable high-quality, accessible, and affordable learning experiences. IMS GLC is now enabling the next generation of Digital Learning Services, combining new forms of digital content, assessment, applications, and administrative services.
LAMS is a revolutionary new tool for designing, managing and delivering online collaborative learning activities. It provides teachers with a highly intuitive visual authoring environment for creating sequences of learning activities. These activities can include a range of individual tasks, small group work and whole class activities based on both content and collaboration.
LOM standards specify the syntax and semantics of Learning Object Metadata, defined as the attributes required to fully/adequately describe a Learning Object. Learning Objects are defined here as any entity, digital or non-digital, which can be used, re-used or referenced during technology supported learning. The LOM standards focus on the minimal set of attributes needed to allow these Learning Objects to be managed, located, and evaluated.
